LED ZEPPELIN “CODA” (U.S.SWAN SONG) 1982 THE GATEFOLD COVER IS VG+ AND THE RECORD IS VG+ TO VG++ WITH SOME VERY LIGHT MARKS. COMES WITH THE ORIGINAL INNER SLEEVE…
I think most people would agree that this album doesn’t really “count” as a “main album” in Led Zeppelin’s discography. It’s a half-hour album that consists entirely of outtakes or otherwise previously existing material from the band, and it was only released because of the band’s contractual obligations to release one last studio album. In truth, they didn’t want to continue without John Bonham after he died so they put in as little effort as they could and didn’t care about this album. They had very little motivation to make this. Now, with that all out of the way, these outtakes are actually pretty cool. I enjoyed all the tracks on this album even though I was expecting to dislike them all. None of these tracks really feel like outtakes, I feel like most of these could have made the cut on their previous albums and I personally wouldn’t have batted an eye. But since these tracks were all made for different reasons within different contexts, it’s very easy to see how distinct these tracks are from each other. The styles on the songs are totally different, making this a strange album to listen to, but the songs are all quite enjoyable individually in their own right. None of them are particularly super interesting, but the opening track is definitely my favorite off the album. (a live recording of one of their old concert openers, if I understand correctly)
