49TH PARALLEL “SAME” (U.S.LION) 200? SEALED LOVELY REISSUE OF CANADIAN PSYCH

This only album by the Canadian psych pop/rock band band 49th Parallel is a pretty solid record. The first few tracks are nothing very special but from “Missouri” onwards the album gets better. “Missouri” is one of the highlights here. Other very good tracks include the fantastic “(The) Magician” and the fun ending track “The People” for example. Luckily most of the tracks are good after the mediocre beginning.

Their sound has a garage flavour to it but most of the album is still psychedelic pop/rock. The record is also very short but it doesn’t matter that much. I can say that I like most of the material on this album. It’s definitely not a masterpiece but it’s indeed a nice little album.
