BOB DYLAN AND THE BAND “BEFORE THE FLOOD” (ASYLUM)1974

GATEFOLD IS VG STKR TR ON COVER

BOTH DISCS ARE EX FEW LITE NON FEELABLE MARKS

Bob Dylan’s first official live album, and the first of many to come. Before The Flood is another collaboration with The Band, and the second of two releases on Asylum Records, following their studio collab Planet Waves earlier in 1974. Both these releases would later be snapped up by Columbia Records anyway for subsequent reissues.

One thing I really like about this double album set is that it’s a true collaboration. You get to hear many of Dylan’s best and well known songs, as well as The Band’s best songs too. This is a significant time for Dylan in particular, because this live album marks his proper return to touring after eight years. In that time he’d only done a few one off performances here and there, such as the 1969 Isle of Wight Festival (also with The Band). Naturally, this return to touring was a big deal for Dylan’s fanbase and really turned the spotlight back on his career.
