Elvis Costello’s third album (and the first one also crediting the Attractions, although they backed him on This Year’s Model) is jam-packed with everything that people used to love about him. Equal parts singer-songwriter, new wave and punk, this has everything from the poppy “Accidents Will Happen” to the angry “Oliver’s Army” and the uncharacteristically anthemic “(What’s So Funny ‘Bout) Peace, Love and Understanding”.

It’s one of those I could do a long spiel over talking about how great each individual song is, or just leave off and say that there is no reason for this not to be in your collection. I think I’ll do the latter.
