SCOTT JONES “ROADS”(U.S.PRIVATE) 1978 Interesting obscurity from late-1970s United States. A couple of so so tracks in the beginning suggest unimaginative outsider folk-rock, but then comes a fantastic experimental pop piece called “We are the little folk”, which combines beatlesque harmonies with numerous tempo and harmony shifts; all in all, quite a marvelous track. The first side ends with a brilliant solo guitar piece, very atmospheric and beautiful, reminding me of early Steve Tibbetts or the second side of the Meat Phredd LP, while the second side unexpectedly veers into a jazzier territory with grand piano to the fore. Charming stuff. “Gettin back to the land” cvr vg++ lite wear disc strong vg++ lite marks only…insert is here
