The Tangerine Zoo have one of my favorite sounds in psychedelia. This is exactly what I look for in psychedelic music. It’s not just technically impressive musicianship. It’s not just hard rock or blues rock or pop with studio effects. It’s the compositions themselves that are unmistakably psychedelic. Also, the aesthetic—”the period flavor”—is top notch here. This is almost like Axe or The Freeborne. The last two tracks especially have kind of a “The Child Dreams” feel off the aforementioned Axe album. True acid music—cavernous, confusing. You could get lost in these grooves. I’m always surprised these guys aren’t more popular. Their debut album is similarly great.
