The Washington Apple “Fresh Country Apples” ONE SIDE psych

The Washington Apple “Fresh Country Apples” (U.S. Delicious) 197? Here is quite a treat if however a mixed bag with side two trumping the first. A real sleeper, this album remains highly obscure even among collectors. It’s female vocal pop, with many covers, and good period flavor, mixed with some heavier psych influenced cuts. It probably won’t knock your socks off, but it is certainly worthy.
Another weird affair… If the POKORA’s books (and their hype for better or worse) had not existed, I probably wouldn’t have wanted to buy this record. According to the author (POKORA), the music is “Psychedelic” : this tag and the beautiful cover produced an attractive desire on me and a sort of “want it right now”. This is very special. Side one is comprised of the rendition of their commercials for ???? the WASHINGTON APPLE. I really enjoy the opener which reminds me STRAWBERRY ALARM CLOCK and the BACHARRACH stuff… Side two appears to me more interesting, containing self penned material representative of the best West Coast psychedelic  sound. B3 and B4 are outstanding with their MAD RIVER and “FISH” influences. This copy has a vibrant VG+ cvr and a super nice M- disc, few scuffs…a real sleeper and has went for big bucks.
