PINK FLOYD “UMMAGUMMA” (U.S. HARVEST SKBB-388 ) 197?
GATEFOLD IS VG++ DISCS ARE VG++ Ummagumma is Pink Floyd’s massive recording from the late 1969. It consists of two separate albums. The first album is the live album and the second album is the studio disc where all of the band members wrote their own material. So the studio material could be considered as some kind of solo stuff. I like to listen to these two albums separately and not everything once. It’s more effective that way.

The live album includes four long musical pieces which are mostly instrumental and atmospheric psychedelic rock. I love it a lot. So warm and relaxing stuff. Especially “Careful With That Axe, Eugene” and “Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun” gives great vibes. The live disc is definitely worth of five stars.

The studio album is amazing too but not as remarkable as the live record. It’s more progressive stuff than it’s psychedelic. Some of the best songs include the longer pieces once again. Overall the studio album is just great but not totally perfect.
